What 30 ft means in practice
When you search for 30 ft scissor lift you usually see narrow 26 ft platform models. These deliver about 32 ft working height [about 9.75 to 9.96 m]. Rental sites group them under 30 to 33 ft narrow. You also see older 20 ft class units with about 26 ft working height. Those sit below 30 ft and may not reach your task.
Manufacturers and rental houses confirm this mapping on spec sheets and category pages. See the references below.

Door fit and maneuvering
Narrow 32 in units pass a 36 in door once you lower the rails to about 6 ft 4 in [about 1.94 m]. Wide 46 to 48 in units need larger doors. Inside turning radius is often zero which helps in narrow aisles.
Floor loading example
Use the plate and spec sheet. Two values matter. Maximum wheel load at the heaviest tire. Occupied floor pressure over the footprint with people on board.
Examples from the Genie data. GS 2632 lists tire load max 1,820 lb [826 kg] and tire contact pressure 119 psi [824 kPa] with occupied floor pressure 270 psf [12.91 kPa]. GS 2646 lists tire load max 2,127 lb [965 kg] and tire contact pressure 124.6 psi [935 kPa] with occupied floor pressure 192 psf [9.83 kPa].
How to check a slab
- Compare occupied floor pressure to the slab uniform load limit in psf or kPa
- Compare maximum wheel load to the slab point load limit from your engineer
- Add margin and avoid ramps or trenches or weak spots
Indoor and outdoor ratings
Plates show indoor or outdoor. Outdoor use often limits occupancy to one person and can limit platform height. A typical outdoor wind rating is 12.5 m per s [28 mph]. Follow the plate and the manual for your unit.
